What Mint offers
Mint Mobile international options in 2026
Mint Mobile is designed for US domestic service. International capabilities are limited. Mint offers Wi-Fi calling through your Mint number (works abroad over WiFi, requires the Mint app), and international calling credits at competitive per-minute rates for calls to foreign numbers from the US.
What Mint does not offer: affordable international data. When you travel abroad and your phone connects to a foreign carrier, Mint routes data through T-Mobile's international roaming agreements. Rates vary by country but can reach $5 per 100 MB in some regions. In Europe, rates are typically $0.02-0.05/MB, which equals $20-50/GB.
Mint's core appeal is affordable US domestic pricing: unlimited plans from $15-30/month on the T-Mobile network. International data is not part of this value proposition. Mint users who travel abroad need a supplementary solution.

The right setup
How to use Mint Mobile and a travel eSIM together
Keep your Mint SIM active
Do not cancel or pause Mint. Your US number stays reachable for calls and texts through WiFi calling or when you return to the US. International contacts can still reach you on your Mint number via WhatsApp or iMessage.
Buy a travel eSIM before departure
Purchase a travel eSIM plan for your destination. Install on home WiFi using Settings > Cellular > Add Plan. The profile sits dormant until you land.
Set the eSIM as your default data line
In Settings > Cellular, set the travel eSIM as the default for data. Keep your Mint SIM active for voice and messages. Disable data roaming on the Mint line.
Use eSIM for all data abroad
Maps, apps, web browsing, hotspot for your laptop all run through the cheap travel eSIM. Your Mint number stays reachable for calls and texts.

FAQ
Mint Mobile international questions
Q1Does Mint Mobile work internationally?
Mint Mobile offers international calling to select countries at low per-minute rates but does not provide international data as part of its standard plans. When you travel abroad with Mint Mobile, your phone uses expensive international roaming rates from T-Mobile (Mint's network partner) unless you purchase an add-on. Mint does not have competitive international data packages.
Q2How much does Mint Mobile charge for international data?
Mint Mobile charges $5 per 100 MB of international data through T-Mobile roaming in many countries, which translates to $50/GB. This is extremely expensive compared to any travel eSIM. A 10 GB trip to Europe on Mint roaming would cost $500 in data charges alone. A travel eSIM for the same trip costs $13.99: our top pick's 10 GB France plan, prices checked 30 Oct 2026.
Q3Should I use Mint Mobile abroad or buy a travel eSIM?
Buy a travel eSIM. Mint Mobile's international data rates are among the most expensive available to US consumers. Our top pick sells 1 GB for 7 days in France for $3.99 (prices checked 30 Oct 2026). Mint Mobile would charge $50 for the same gigabyte. A dedicated travel eSIM is 90%+ cheaper than using Mint Mobile's international data abroad.
Q4Can I use Mint Mobile and a travel eSIM at the same time?
Yes. Your Mint Mobile physical SIM or eSIM stays active for domestic US calls and texts. You add a travel eSIM as a second line for international data. Modern dual-SIM phones manage both simultaneously. Your US number stays reachable for calls and texts through your Mint SIM while your travel eSIM handles all data at the destination.
Q5Does Mint Mobile offer international eSIM plans?
No. As of 2026, Mint Mobile does not offer dedicated international eSIM travel plans. Mint's core product is domestic US service. For international data, Mint customers must either use expensive T-Mobile roaming add-ons or purchase a separate travel eSIM from HelloRoam, Airalo, Holafly, Saily or Nomad for the trip.
Q6What is the cheapest way for a Mint Mobile user to get data abroad?
Buy a HelloRoam travel eSIM for your destination before your trip; it was the cheapest of five eSIM providers in 205 of 367 plan cells checked on 30 Oct 2026. Install it on the same phone as your Mint SIM. Set the travel eSIM as the default data line and disable data roaming on Mint. Your Mint number stays active for US calls and texts.
Add a travel eSIM to your Mint plan
Keep your US number. Pay $13.99 for 10 GB in France with a travel eSIM instead of up to $50/GB on roaming.
